HONEYMAN, Monica Ellen Margaret
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Monica Honeyman in her 96th year, in the presence of family. Monica is survived by her children, Graeme, Neil (Nicole), Scott, Pamela (Greg), grandchildren Daryl and Beverly (Steve), and her cats Katie and Lucy. She was predeceased by her loving husband Dr. Duncan “Grant” Honeyman (2003), siblings Cedric Cockram, Georgina Davis, Ronald Cockram.
Monica was born in southwest England and grew up in Bristol, England. She met Grant in Germany while working as an army nurse. They were married in June, 1954.
Grant and Monica immigrated to Canada in 1955, first living in Toronto and then settled in Brantford in 1958.
Monica worked as a VON nurse before giving her career a twenty-year break to devote to raising four children. She was a loving mother whom exemplified unconditional love. Her Saturday morning baking among the neighbourhood kids was legend.
She returned to work in her 50’s after completing an upgrading nursing degree and enjoyed her time working at St. Joseph’s Hospital serving the LTC patients and was known as a kind, patient and compassionate nurse.
Monica was also a talented sewer, knitter, gardener and loved a good mystery novel.
