Joan Johnson

Obituary of Joan Johnson

Leslie Joan Johnson, affectionately known as Joanie, passed away at home peacefully with family by her side on February 11, 2022.  Just the way she wanted. Joan is predeceased by her husband, Mark.  With Mark, Joan travelled the country and back making friends all over, before settling in Brantford with her family. Together, the two opened Two Doors Down and were a vibrant part of the community for many years. She will be forever remembered as a friendly, welcoming smile behind the bar. Joan dedicated her life to being an incredible mother and friend. She will be deeply missed by her son, Dana, and his partner Leesah. Dana will be forever grateful for her devotion. She spent her years cheering him on, never missing a baseball or hockey game, but damned if she’d sit through a golf tournament. She worked to give him every opportunity in the world, as they became best friends and business partners. A phenomenal cook, Joan’s life was about bringing people together, whether that was around the dinner table or for a drink or two. She had an uncanny ability to find and bring out the best in anyone and was skilled at finding the humour in truly any situation. She was a bright and colourful person, with an even brighter and more colourful wardrobe. She will be missed by siblings Sheri Patis, Larry Patis (Anne), nieces Jenna Pickell, Ashton and Tarah Patis, and nephews Rory Pickell and Larry Patis. She is predeceased by her mother and father, Mary and Larry, and her sister Lori. A tiny lady who was larger than life, Joan knew what was important, her family and rescuing any cat. True to character, Joan quietly snuck out of the party. Cremation has taken place. A private family get together has taken place.   Funeral arrangements entrusted to McCleister Funeral Home, 495 Park Road North Brantford (519) 758-1553.  If wished, memorial donations to the charity of your choice.  Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at
