Obituary of Gunner Skoog

SKOOG - Gunner

We are sad to announce that in the  early hours of January 25th 2022 our beloved father and grandfather Gunner Oklahoma Skoog passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Gunner was 86 years old (born October 28th 1935) and resided at St. Joesph's lifecare  in Brantford,Gunner was born in Sylvan Lake Alberta and has traveled through out Canada and had many adventures around the world. In his travels he was lucky enough to meet the love of his life and wife Edna Mary Skoog (Blacker) (predeceased 1999). Gunner and Edna settled down in the city of Brantford where they raised their daughter Dawn Heather Godbout. Gunner was an amazing and interesting father and often put Dawn (affectionately known to him as "scratchy") in funny situations. When taking Dawn to get a puppy as a child he ended up adopting a baby raccoon and built it a beautiful home in their backyard. Gunner had a zest for life that is not matched by many. Gunner was the service manager at Bay King Motors for several years and an active member of the conservative party.  Gunner was all about family with four grandchildren Benjamin Scott Brown (wife Kelly Brown), Danielle Lynn Holly Bathgate (husband Aaron Bathgate), Rebecca Patience Godsmith (husband Andrew Godsmith), And Brooklyn Mary Skoog. Gunner's favourite thing to do was have a Tim Hortons coffee with his family and walk through the gardens at St. Joesph's.  He was a story teller and he often convinced his grandchildren to live in the wonderful world he created with his words. Gunner had six great grandchildren Sam, Owen, Ashlyn, Jake, Emily and Hudson. Gunner was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend that played a big role in the lives of those that loved him. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.  The family will be having a private viewing on Thursday January 27 2022 at McCleister Funeral Home Brantford and will plan a burial service and celebration of life in the spring 2022.
