Jean Roper

Obituary of Jean Lilian Roper

ROPER – Lillian “Jean” (nee Gemmell)

Peacefully at the Stedman Community Hospice on Tuesday November 16, 2021, at age 96. Loving wife of the late Donald. Much loved mother of Wayne (Norma) Roper and Brenda (Victor) Kischak. Beloved grandmother of 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Jean is survived by her sister Kathleen and predeceased by her siblings, Keith, William, Marjorie and Nancy. Mom was a well-known face at Canadian Tire in downtown Paris for many years. An accomplished knitter, she produced display samples of the famous Mary Maxim sweaters and even after becoming legally blind taught a PSW caring for her, how to knit. She was a lady, one of special talents and a wicked sense of humour to the end. She also managed Stewart’s store in downtown Paris for many years. Dad and Mom had a great collection of friends in Southward in Paris, friendships that lasted through their nearly 60 years of marriage. A heartfelt thank you to Inez and the caring staff of Telfer Place, Paris. In keeping with Jean’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McCleister Funeral Home, Brantford. Donations may be made in memory of Jean to the Stedman Community Hospice. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at
