Peacefully at Fox Ridge Care Community on November 5, 2021 in his 97th year. Vernon was pre deceased by his wife Evelyn (1996) and siblings Armond, Evelyn /Richard, Vince/Mabel. Also a mention of Bea,Ellie and Ross who were more like siblings than cousins. He leaves behind his daughter Shelley (Andy), grandson Austin, several nieces and nephews. Vernon was born and raised in Middleport Ontario. He worked well over 40 years at Domtar gypsum plant. He also continued his obligations at the family farm. He was always committed to his family and friends. He was entirely devoted to his wife and daughter. When his wife experienced numerous health issues, he became her caregiver over many years. Sunday's were usually spent visiting relatives. He lived a very simple life seemingly having all he needed was his family. A man that was always in the background; but this is what made him stand out front in the eyes of many. His wish was to own an Oldsmobile when he retired, and he did acquire one. Later in life he became an amazing grandfather and babysitter to his grandson Austin, cooking him scrambled eggs with ketchup for breakfast. He made such an impression to anyone he met. He had a kind and caring soul. You have left your family with fond meories never to be forgotten. He has been reunited with his soulmate Evelyn. And will forever be his daughters hero. A special thank you to his former neighbours and friends whom took the time to visit Vern; Gary ,Barb, Claire and Isabel.A heartfelt thanks to health care professionals both past and present who became his extended family and gave him the dignity he deserved. Memorial donations to be made to the Brantford SPCA in recognition of his love for animals. All arrangements have been entrusted to the wonderful staff at McCleister Funeral Home, 495 Park Road North, Brantford.
