Obituary of Charles Vernor Baker

November 19, 1930 – July 26, 2021

Charles V. Baker died peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital, long term care ward. He was surrounded by the love of his family. Charlie was born on November 19, 1930. He was the youngest of eleven children. His parents, Julia and Edwin raised their family in Gaspe, Quebec on the farm in Sandy Beach.  Charlie and Marion would have celebrated their sixty second anniversary on September 12, 2021.  Together they raised three children, Julie (Gail), Susan (Fraser) and Paul (Marilyn).  Charlie was also a loving grandfather to Jake, Sam, Ryleigh and Jordan. Throughout his working life, he spent many years with the Toronto Dominion Bank, City Trust and First City Trust. He enjoyed his time as a member at the Brantford Golf & Country Club and the Brantford Club.  Charlie was an active member at St. Mark's Anglican Church and a loyal and passionate member of the Liberal Party of Canada. He was well-read with a passion for psychology, philosophy and finance. For those who knew Charlie, he was a quiet man with a great sense of humour. He was a skilled man on the dance floor. Charles was full of kindness and love, especially for his family. Family and friends will be received on Friday, September 10, 2021 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, 155 Memorial Drive, Brantford  with a memorial service  at St. Mark's Anglican Church on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place. Due to covid protoctol masks are to be worn and social distancing is required. Arrangements entrusted to the McCleister Funeral Home, 495 Park Road N. Brantford. In lieu of flowers, donations will be greatly appreciated to be sent to the Canadian Diabetic Association or the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON), Brantford.
