Obituary of Anders Vincent Fisker

FISKER – Anders Vincent (Andy)

March 28, 1927 – July 23, 2021

It is with sadness that Andy’s family announces his peaceful passing on July 23rd at the age of 94 at Stedman Community Hospice.  Beloved husband of the late Kirsten (2012).  Much loved father of Marlene Kennedy (Doug), Thomas Fisker, and Johanne Smolarz (Geoff).  Treasured MorFar/Bedstefar (grandfather) of Jason Kennedy (Sandi), Jacqueline Guz (Giles); Madeline, Alanna, and Brent Smolarz (fiancée Emily Butcher); Kyle and Eric Fisker.  Oldefar (great grandfather) to 3 little ones (Declan, Jimmy, Phoebe).  Special brother-in-law to Birthe and the late Erik Andersen (2009).  Fondly remembered by Sheryl Fisker as well as family overseas, friends in the Brantford and Parry Sound area, and residents of Tranquility Place.  Andy immigrated to Canada from Denmark in 1950, as he said “with $50 in his pocket, and he still had $20 left”.    Initially starting in farming, he went on to do construction, starting his own successful home building business (Fisker Construction) in 1961.  Andy was very involved in his community as a member of the Jaycees, Home Builders Association (where he served as past president and was an honourary lifetime member), Shriners (also past president), the Dunsdon Legion and Faith Lutheran Church.  He had a wonderful sense of humour and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  He also loved hunting, fishing, and playing cards (especially Bridge), as well as spending time at his cottage.  The family would like to thank the staff at both Tranquility Place, for adding to dad’s enjoyment during his four years there, and at Stedman’s Hospice for the care and compassion given to Andy over his last 4 weeks.  Private arrangements have been made, entrusted to McCleister Funeral Home, 495 Park Road N., Brantford.  Donations (in lieu of flowers) may be made in memory of Andy to the Shrine Hospital, Burn Unit or to the Stedman Community Hospice.  Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at
