Obituary of Mabel Bernice Hunter

Hunter, Mabel Bernice (nee Hussey)

Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Cedarwood Village, Simcoe, Ontario in her 96th year.  Mabel was born in Brantford, Ontario on the 8th of January 1926.  She was the daughter of Wray H. and Mabel (nee Tysoe) Hussey.  Beloved wife of Thomas for 75 years of Simcoe, Ontario, formerly of Brantford.  Loving mother of Donna (Henry) Hagey of Simcoe and the late Ron Hunter (2016). Sadly missed by her grandchildren, Louis (Emmanuelle), Mark (Rebecca) Hagey, both of Calgary, Laura Thompson of Ancaster, Lisa Thompson of Sault Ste. Marie and great-grandchildren, Justine and Samuel Hagey, Edwin and Oliver Hagey. Survived by sister-in-law Marg Lovell.  Predeceased by sister Betty (Len) Kensit, brother George (Jean) Hussey and brother-in-law Chic (Eve) Hunter and Jack Lovell.  Mabel was a loving wife, mother, grandma and friend.  She will be fondly remembered as an accomplished oil painter, talented steamstress and wonderful cook who enjoyed planning and preparing her gourmet dinners for family and friends. Many thanks to the staff at Cedarwood LTC, Simcoe for their care and attention for these past few years, especially during the difficulties of the Covid pandemic.  A private family inurnment will be held at Farringdon Burial Ground.  If wished, memorial donations in Mabel’s memory to a charity of your choice or Stedman Community Hospice, Brantford.  Funeral arrangements entrusted to the McCleister Funeral Home, 495 Park Road North, Brantford.  Memories and condolences may be viewed by the family at  McCleister (519)758-1553.
