Camick, Donald Ernest

Passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at the John Noble Home in his 86th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Linda. Born in Orillia, Ontario to the late Ernest and Margaret Camick, brother of the late John (and his wife Shirley), the late James (and his wife Vi) and their families, and cousin Anita Dickens. Don grew up on a farm near Washago, Ontario on the Black River. He graduated from Orillia District Collegiate with a commercial diploma and began working for Porcelain and Metal Products, Orillia.  After 5 years there, he secured a position with Ontario Hydro, where he was employed for 36 years.  He worked in various offices in Ontario and spent a number of years as Area Supervisor in Strathroy.  At retirement, in 1992, he was Business Supervisor for the Simcoe area office.  Don was a faithful member of Fairview United Church and was involved in a number of organizations over the years.  He enjoyed his golfing and curling and loved travelling to different destinations. In his younger years he was a member and President of Strathroy Jaycees.  At that time he was awarded Outstanding District President for Ontario, and was given a Senatorship for his work in the organization. He was also a member and Worship Master of Beaver Lodge #83, Masonic Order, as well as, a member of Mocha Shrine Temple. He is a charter member of Strathocha Shrine Club in Strathroy.  When he moved to Brantford, he became a member of the Kiwanis Club of Grand River, serving as secretary for 10 years.  In 2007, he was awarded the “Mel Osborne Fellowship” for his club service. Special thanks to the nursing staff of the John Noble Home, Davis Court, for their kindness and loving care.  Cremation has taken place.  Due to covid restrictions, a private interment will take place at Farringdon Burial Ground.  A memorial service will follow at a later date.
