Obituary of Brenda Charlea Dawes

DAWES, Brenda Charlea Brenda Charlea Dawes, in her 70th year, passed away, after a lengthy illness at Norfolk General Hospital on July 23, 2020. Dear daughter of the late Lea and Charles Dawes. Brenda will be truly missed by her sister, Betty of Brantford, brother Bryan, Truro, N.S., sister-in-law Mary Anne, Brantford, dear friends Sharon and Rick Norrington and Valerie Smit of Simcoe. Predeceased by her brothers Billy, Bobby and Bruce, her sisters-in-law Geraldine and Phyliss, as well as her niece, Dawn. Survived by her nephews Patrick, Robyn, Cameron and nieces Lynn, Holly, Joanne, Sherry along with other relatives and many friends. Brenda graduated from Waterloo Lutheran University with a B.A. in Sociology and History. She also received her B.Ed. from the University of Toronto. She was a devoted employee of Norfolk Association Community Living for many years, including the role as Executive Director. Brenda was steadfast in her belief that people with developmental disabilities should receive respect, compassion and inclusion. Special thanks to Dr. Wm Wynveen and the staff on 3rd and 4th floors of Norfolk General Hospital for their care and kindness. Cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
