Obituary of John David Loney

LONEY, John David It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of David. He passed away peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital surrounded by his family in his 83rd year, on July 16th, 2020. He is survived by his beloved wife Joan (Eadie) and cherished daughters Kim Wildey (Steve) and Lori Newsome (Scott). As well, by his loved grandchildren Matthew, Bryana (Jay), Tyler, Brooke and great grandchildren Bentley, Mikyla, Mianna and Mila. Predeceased by his parents Gorden and Gertrude Loney and sister Mary McCauley (Bill). David will be missed by his sister Kathy Doxsee (Larry) and brother Brian. As well as, many nieces, nephews and dear friends. David was easily defined as a loving husband, father and papi. A strong driven man, that always put his family first. He lived his life selflessly, simply and full of love. There was nothing David couldn’t do to bring a smile to his family and friends, he inspired everyone he met. He exemplified exceptional kindness and had a sizeable heart. David shared many found memories at the family cottage and the Florida home with his family. Being an outdoor enthusiast, he loved having his gardens full and spending many days out on the dock and water with his loved ones. David attained his Business Degree from McMaster University and became the proud owner and president of Anthrafilter Media & Coal Ltd. David shared many laughs and golf strokes as a longtime member at the Brantford Golf and Country Club and member of Probus. As a proud father, he was involved with the Brantford Aquatic Club and was the number one fan for both daughters and all of his grandchildren. David was an exceptional athlete throughout his life, playing for the Junior Hockey Kitchener Rangers Team and attended a Montreal Canadians training camp. A humble and kind man, David donated generously throughout his life to many organizations, including the Hamilton General Hospital and David Braley Research Centre, holding a special place in his heart for the St. Andrews United Church. Thank you to the many physicians who closely looked after David, the amazing staff at BGH who provided care and looked after our hero, and to our guardian angel Brigitte. Arrangements have been entrusted to McCLEISTER FUNERAL HOME, Brantford. A Celebration of Life will be arranged for a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Branford General Hospital.
