HUNTER – Wayne Alex

The family would like to announce the passing of a beloved brother, cherished uncle, respected volunteer and Brantford historian.Wayne passed away at his home on Monday March 4, 2019, at the age of 71 years. Loving brother of Susan Butcher (George), Terry (Nadia) and Debbie Shergold and her family. Wayne would want to be remembered as a researcher and the “go to guy” for Brantford history. He had many friends and colleagues from the historical society, the Brantford museum and was foundational in archiving and cataloging the most important events with photos for all Branford’s community members to enjoy. In 2015 he was recognized and received the award for lifetime achievement for outstanding volunteering by Ontario’s lieutenant governor. He was always the starting point for historical research and had been a resource for everything from television dramas to criminal investigations. The contributions that Wayne Alex Hunter has made to Brantford cannot be measured. Friends are invited to pay their respects to the family at the McCLEISTER FUNERAL HOME, 49 Park Road N. Brantford on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday at 1 pm. Cremation to follow. Donations may be made in memory of Wayne to the Woodland Cultural Centre, “Save the evidence program” or the Brant County Museum. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.mccleisterfuneralhome.ca
