McCleister, Lois H.
With great sorrow and heavy hearts the family of Lois Harriett McCleister (nee Thrasher) announce her passing on Friday, April 27, 2018. Lois was predeceased by her beloved husband William L. McCleister in 1972. Predeceased by her parents Edward and Mildred Thrasher, her brothers Mack, Douglas, Mendel, Rev. Brien, Terrance, her sister Betty Thrasher and daughter-in-law Patricia McCleister (Shellon). Lois will be deeply missed by her children and their families, Ted McCleister (Bettyann Deronde), Marilyn (Garnet Shaver), John McCleister (Kathy Lake), Andrew McCleister (Carolyn McFall). Lois enjoyed her grandchildren and will be remembered always by Kristin McCleister, Erin Richards (Brad), Rachael Addison (Ted), Aaron Shaver (Shannon), Carson Shaver, Riley and Courtney McCleister, Megan McCleister (Ivor) and Jenna McCleister. Lois was always delighted to spend time with her great-grandchildren, Noah and Ashton, Cameron and Joshua. Lois was born in Pembroke, Ontario in 1926 and met and married her dear husband at Camp Petawawa in 1945. Following their move to Brantford in 1946, Bill resumed working with his father Walter at McCleister Funeral Home. When Bill died in 1972 Lois and her son Ted operated McCleister Funeral Home. Lois retired in 1979 and shortly after moved to Kingston where she enjoyed happy years with her mother and singing with the Kingston Chorale Society. Upon her return to Brantford she enjoyed singing with the Bach Elgar Choir. Lois enjoyed her music and her garden, bridge, curling and tennis. Lois was a loving gentle lady who treasured her family and friends. She will be missed evermore. The family extends sincere thanks to the Staff at Telfer Place, Long Term Care for their kind and compassionate care. The family will receive friends and relatives at McCLEISTER FUNERAL HOME, 495 Park Road North, Brantford on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The funeral service to honour Lois will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception in the Hospitality Suite. A private family interment will follow at Farringdon Burial Ground. Reverend Steve Iverson of St. Andrew’s United Church will officiate, assisted by Reverend Randy MacKenzie. If wished, the family would appreciate memorial donations to St. Andrew’s United Church, Music Fund. On line condolences will be forwarded to the family at mccleisterfuneralhome.ca
